With a legacy spanning four generations and over 120 years, the Kalarickal family has been a beacon of health and well-being. Our journey began in 1898 when Late Kochappu Vaidyan established the Kalarickal Ayurveda Vaidyashala, a village clinic that served as the primary source of healing for the entire community. Later Paily Vaidyan, who expanded our services under the name St George Vaidyashala. This legacy of healing persisted until 1976. Dr. K P Geevarghese, carrying the torch of his forebears, established in Kothamangalam. In 2018 Dr. Shibu Varghese founded Kalarickal Ayurvedic Hospital, a sanctuary of healing with multi-specialties.

Meet Dr. Shibu Varghese
Prof. Dr. Shibu Varghese BAMS, MD, FAGE, a renowned Ayurvedic physician, academic leader, and entrepreneur, hails from the prestigious Kalarickal Ayurveda family of Kothamangalam, Kerala, which has upheld a healing legacy since 1898. Representing four generations of Ayurvedic tradition, he serves as Managing Director and Chief Physician of Kalarickal Ayurveda Hospital, Panchakarma Department Head and Hospital Superintendent at Nangelil Ayurveda Medical College, Executive Director of Carmel Ayurveda Village, Senate Member of Kerala University of Health Sciences, Board of Studies member at Glocal University, and Chairman of the Scientific Committee at Nangelil Ayurveda College.

With the legendary Lata Mangeshkar ji, in her home attire at her residence on Peddar Road, Mumbai, where I had the rare privilege of treating her for knee-related issues. It was a deeply humbling and overwhelming moment in my clinical life to care for the recipient of India’s highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna.Her greatness was beautifully captured by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in *Wings of Fire*, where he wrote that her voice ignited the spirit of Indian soldiers during the Indo-China war – a voice capable of awakening patriotism from the deepest silence.
